Real Estate Murter Island and Tisno, Dalmatia + General Information
Panorama Scouting offers a large selection of properties for sale in Tisno and Murter directly at the seafront or with sea view.
The picturesque seaside resort of Tisno, with its 1300 inhabitants, is situated in northern Dalmatia, 27 kilometers northwest of Sibenik. It is connected to the island of Murter by a flap bridge across the strait at Tisno's center, which swings open two or three times a day to allow yachts to pass. From Munich, Tisno can be reached by car via the motorway in about eight hours, and Split Airport is only 60 kilometers away.
Tisno's history dates back to Roman times, with remnants of a Roman villa still visible today. The town was first mentioned in 1474 during the Turkish invasion when people sought refuge in the area. In the 18th century, wealthy families from Italy moved to Tisno, and their grand palaces and villas, like Villa Kaleb and Mazzuro, can still be visited. Another notable site is the Church of Our Lady of Carravaggio, built by the Italian Gelpsi family in the early 18th century. Every year on May 26th, numerous pilgrims from neighboring areas gather here to celebrate the anniversary.
Tisno is also famous for its techno festivals, such as the Love International Festival, held during the summer by the Garden organization. The Garden Site has its own beach and is far enough from Tisno's center to allow partying and raving to continue into the early hours without disturbing other guests and inhabitants.
Tisno offers numerous recreational and sports activities, including shoreline strolls, cycling, hiking, diving, snorkeling, sailing, and boat trips. In the marinas, you can rent a boat and visit the Kornati archipelago, a national park since 1980, known for its clear waters and relatively untouched ecology, making it a spectacular place for scuba diving.
The best of Tisno's beaches are Jazina, a shallow gravel bay 2 kilometers west of the bridge, and Jezero, located beside the campsite of the same name.
Murter is one of Dalmatia's most serene and laid-back islands, with an unspoiled countryside and crystal-clear waters. Its main settlement, Murter Town, is a small village of mainly stone houses and a few hotels, serving as the primary starting point for boat trips to the Kornati islands. Traditional jetties and boathouses at the seafront are still home to fishermen and sheep farmers who own land on the Kornati islands. The oldest part of the town, with its picturesque alleys, is situated on a hill and worth visiting. The attractive gravel Slanica Bay, famous for its spectacular sunset over the Kornati, the less crowded Cigrada Bay, and several rocky bathing areas are only a few minutes’ walk from the town.
